If you spend a great deal of time sitting, you get what is called "Gluteal Amnesia". In other words, your butt forgets how to work properly. Not only that, your hamstrings have to pick up the slack and they become dysfunctional possibly leading to hamstring strains.

Here is a small sampling of some butt activation exercises to make your butt forget that it has amnesia (Ha...see what I did there?)
